Another Divine Holiday Pad In Niseko
The December holidays are round the corner which means lots of affluent Singaporeans will be converging on the slopes of Niseko in Hokkaido, Japan for what is becoming their annual ski holiday. (This looks like the sport of choice these days for us, nevermind the fact that we come from a hot, tropical island with not even a flurry of fake snow!) Where to stay when you heave your snowboots up there? How about The Green Leaf Niseko Village, an award winning, recently refurbished resort with ski-in, ski-out facilities and rooms to get seriously comfy in. Just look at the pretty pictures!
Of all the 200 guest rooms here, you’ll want the suites – particularly the eight corner suites which include living room and kitchenette, and views of Mount Yotei. Interconnecting rooms, an uncommon feature in Japan, connect the 96 Deluxe King rooms and the Deluxe Twin rooms, perfect for families, with the added bonus of complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the resort.
Lovely rooms to get cosy in if you’re not skiing, but there’s also the Tomioka White lobby lounge complete with a fireplace and a full service bar for drinks and conversation. Need some deep tissue therapy? The resort has its own onsen set amid rock formations where you can soak while watching the snow fall, and The Green Leaf Spa, recently voted as one of the best spas in the world by Condé Nast Traveler US!
If, unlike me, you are itching to hit the bunny slopes for the first time in your life, the Niseko Village Snow School helps you get on track with certified instructors for both adults and kids, but non-skiers have loads to do too – snowmobile adventure tours through the forest trails, guided snowshoe tours, cross country ski courses, snow rafting and even reindeer sledging.
The Green Leaf Niseko Village is offering a Winter Magic Discovery Package (ideal for first time skiers aged 13 and above) from JPY21,550 per person per night (about S$350) for a minimum two night stay in a Deluxe Room. You get daily breakfast, a four-hour beginner’s ski lesson, a Niseko Village ski lift pass, ski wear and equipment rental and complimentary use of the natural onsen. Available from 1 December until 31 March 2012.
