Autumn Colours and New Products at Wella
I am a firm believer that you have to switch hair care every now and then and get a trim to rid yourself of all the dead ends. There is such a thing as fatigue as I think just like exercise when your body becomes particularly used to a routine, it fails to be as effective.
Similarly with my hair, I was very happy with the results when Wella stylist and service technician Suki Chan Duarte trimmed my far from well maintained tresses and then gave my now newly glossy mane a sheen of Wella’s latest Autumn shades and highlights. Stepping out into the late October sunshine, I felt refreshed and ready for a new season of ‘fabuliciousness’.
Wella has introduced a new range of slick professional hair care products that you can pick up the next time you visit the Salon as they are only available at selected salons.
Whilst I had Suki’s undivided attention for the next few hours, I asked her for some tips:
SIMPLYFAB: With Winter and a drier season coming, how do you keep your hair looking great?
SUKI: Try the ENRICH Self Warming Mask to give yourself a steam treatment in the comfort of home. This product assumes that you don’t have access to a professional hair steamer the way you would in a salon. So you apply it after your shampoo and massage it into wet hair for an indulgent, nourishing treat that works to restore dry and damaged hair for a radiant, hydrated finish. Your hair is glossy and smooth afterwards.
SIMPLYFAB: My hair looks flat like its plastered against my scalp. How can I add more body and help it to look like it has more volume?
SUKI: Instead of leaving your hair to dry naturally, try to blow dry it instead. Always blow dry against the way it falls (ie. the opposite way) for more volume. Never comb your hair flat. Even if you prefer to towel dry your hair make sure your run your fingers through the roots to lift the roots and introduce volume.
You should also always add styling products to damp hair and then after you blow dry, let the roots of the hair cool down for a few minutes before you attempt to style so that it retains the volume and lift.
SIMPLYFAB: What colours are good for Winter?
SUKI: I notice that in the Summer, people prefer lighter shades. However in the Winter, richer colours are better. An Asian complexion can afford to wear less makeup with a darker hair colour.
SIMPLYFAB: I sometimes tong my hair and more recently I have been thinking of using heated rollers. I hear these will dry out your hair so are there any products that I can use to retain the moisture?
SUKI: We actually have a product called Thermal Image which is a heat protection spray that you spray onto the hair before you use the curling or flat iron, tongs or any rollers.
SIMPLYFAB: Recommend a ‘MUST-BUY’ product for all round use during the year
SUKI: Try any of the products within the Professionals Styling range. My favourite are the Thermal Image Dry Heat Protection Spray and the Shimmer Delight Finish Spray Brilliance that reveals the natural lustre of your finished style with a shine that gently shimmers making it perfect for a night out.
