A/W 2011 Sneak Peaks: Club Monaco Goes Retro
Its all about Retro at Club Monaco as Fall fashion trends go. Expect 60s and 70s sophistication in a warm palette of cinnamon, berry and gem tones on clean shapes with touches of vintage wallpaper prints. Inspiration comes from the lifestyle of the 50s beatnik movement, David Bailey’s photography from Berlin in the 60s, Leon Levinstein’s street style photos, and the iconic style of the eras’ leading ladies, including Jane Asher, Edie Sedgwick, and Jean Shrimpton.
This September, the palette turns to rusted brick and classic brown. Culottes are still in and you can find burned out satin tees and faux fur trimmed cropped jackets. Accessories are effortless with crossbody brogue trim bags, long pendant necklaces, and wide brimmed felt fedoras.
The menswear collection is suburban prep with cotton shirts styled under boiled wool blazers with five-pocket corduroy pants and sweaters presented in a variety of styles, from waffle mohair boucle cardigans to ribbed wool cashmere sweaters in berry tones. Knit ties are striped or plaid. Leather belts are braided and distressed.
