A/W Sneak Peeks: Karen Millen
Like what you saw at Top Shop? We continue to bring you all the sneak peek’s into A/W 11′s wardrobe. At Karen Millen, it’s a season of opulence and beautiful hand-worked details with the use of sumptuous materials including lace, faux fur and shearlings. Three collections feature.
COLOUR CONNOISSEUR shows off intense colour for day and night. A beautiful teal silk dress with sheer sleeves is draped with pleated chiffon while a rich peacock blue velvet dress is contrasted withturquoise silk straps and a stunning V shaped back. Ruffles add another dimension to this story; a pleated deep crimson dress and corseted satin top in deep violet are both finished with ornately gathered ëpetalí collars. An electric blue statement coat or plush aubergine velvet trouser suit are also typical of the rich feel of the season and pieces are designed to be worn with contrasting tones and textures topped with fur wraps in saturated tones. Winter lace adds another dimension in sleek panelled dresses or decadent cocktail dresses that play on different weights and styles of lace. The colour theme continues into accessories with beautiful sandals in violet and cherry satin with sexy ankle straps through to glossy patent day bags and richly hued python bags and boots.
MODERN MOD emphasises on a long, lean silhouette with androgynous influences. Skinny stretch trousers with zip details or long bandage pencil skirts are paired with skinny rib knits and textural jackets in woven lambskin or quilted biker jackets. High shine finishes are also important ñ coated leather is used in panelled shift dresses.
NEW YORK CITY GIRL is all about celebrating the 70s in sleek, sporty daywear. Knee-length skirts in tan leather or dark denim are paired with blush blouses and knee-high leather boots. Fluid tailoring takes inspiration from the decade too, in a lightweight wool sleeveless jacket and trousers in a rich caramel. A striped blanket coat in tan, grey, white and black is a statement making cover-up. The day clutch comes in myriad variations from Prince of Wales check to striped pony-skin.
