Bathing With Martha Tilaar’s Asian Flavours

I recently tried  the Dewi Sri Spa Mangga Delight Body Wash (pity no shots, but it looks simliar to the range shown above) from Martha Tilaar and it’s really pretty good! It’s a lovely mango-scented clear shower gel which is very moisturizing  but doesn’t leave an oily film on your skin which many ‘moisturising’ shower gels do. That’s a big thing for me, as I really don’t like feeling slimy after a bath. Plus, a little goes a long way….you don’t have to squirt much into your hands to work up a good lather. The smell isn’t cloyingly sweet either, so you don’t walk out of the bathroom overwhelming your family with the smell of mango!

Haven’t heard of Marth Tilaar? Neither had I until the 70-something-year-old businesswoman from Indonesia opened her first outlet in Singapore at Marina Square. No little old grandma, she heads one of the biggest cosmetics and beauty manufacturing businesses in Indonesia and this is her first venture in Singapore.

The draw here are the au naturel products which she concocts (in a high tech, multi-million dollar sort of way, mind you!) using of Asian ingredients. Hence, you’ll see products featuring exotic flavours like mangosteen, Javanese rose, rice, pomelo, orchid, etc, and Jamu herbs, using traditional herbal remedies. A rather refreshing change, isn’t it? Makes great gifts for girlfriends living abroad too. The best-sellers here are the Dewi Sri Spa White Tea Body Lotion ($20.90), Dewi Sri Spa Sensual Scrub Classic Series ($29.90) and the Dewi Sri Spa Mangga Delight Body Wash ($17.90). If you’re into teas, there’s also Jamu Garden Slimming Tea ($19.90) and Jamu Garden Ageless Tea ($15.90).

Definitely worth checking out when you’re next at Marina Square. Prices aren’t crazy either and the shop is rather pretty, don’t you think?
