Blemish Ban
Its Summer! The 34 degree heat sees my blackheads assembling in small clusters whilst the white heads have marched forth and erupted .. fortunately for me (or unfortunately) these are not on my face. Instead, my point of vulnerability is my back! This is where I feel most like a pubescent teen.So it was extremely timely last week when the folks at Clinelle sent over their Blemish pack for me to try.
The Blemish Trio as I call it combats the outbreak of blemishes which of course ruin any complexion. From Clinelle, there is a use-weekly Blemish Clear Mask, an Overnight Blemish Gel to treat acne and a daytime use Blackhead Control Gel for overall prevention.
The Blemish Clear Mask was interesting to apply as it was rough and ‘sandy’ in texture, had a ‘scrub’ like texture and did not feel like the usual slather and absorb type masks. Instead you are asked to apply generously on the face and neck, presumably the t-zone area and then wash off in 10 to 20 mins. The wash off was great as it did indeed act like a scrub and you could feel the ‘grainy’ bit lifting off the dead skin cells. A good alternative substitute for a long over-due facial, especially if you have had no time to go for one!
The overnighter Blemish Gel is for use after cleansing and before you go to bed. It treats blemishes as well as clears breakouts without causing redness or irritation and contains zinc PCA which is a powerful purifier and isodeceyl salicylate an antiseptic form of salicylic acid.
The final product in the trio is a Blackhead Control Gel. Use it if you prone to blackheads. Contains a potent antioxidant NDGA preventing hyperkeratosis, a thickening of the outer skin layer that causes blocked pores. The gel has astringent properties to regulate sebum and tighten open pores. Natural botanicals in the form of Geranium and Orange Oil replenish moisture levels and stimulate cell renewal. Available at Watsons and major pharmacies and cosmetic chains.
