Demisemiquaver – Made In Singapore

If you want a designer piece for your wardrobe that definitely not mass market and most certainly unconventional, you might want to search through demisemiquaver at the Front Row at Raffles Hotel Arcade.

Say it with us .. ‘demi-semi-quaver’ is an interesting ‘made-in- Singapore’ brand which has  since presented 5 ready-to-wear collections and this recent one is called BLACK HOLE. It’s designer, Singaporean Teo Ying Hui, a graduate from the Raffles Design Institute has climbed the ropes at Singapore’s many local designer brand houses including Celia Loe, Studio Prive, Woods & Woods and then went on to win the inaugural Audi Young Designer Award in 2009. She has since launched her very own brand demisemiquaver and her most recent achievement was to show her collection at last year’s Berlin Fashion Week thus moving the brand out of sunny Singapore runways and onto international catwalks.

The Spring/Summer 2011 collection is inspired by an attempt to discard superficiality and focus on what lies beneath the facade, hence textures and cuts are the key thing with Jacquard weaves, double cloth, denim and knits combined. You will notice a play on folds, pleats and panels to add interest and detail to her collection. Have a look at some of her other pieces at www.demisemiquaver.net or go to Front Row, Raffles Hotel Arcade, #02-08, 328 North Bridge Road, Singapore.
