Designer ‘Re-Engineered’ At HK’s Pink Martini
I was window shopping this weekend in a mall called Harbour City in Kowloon, Hong Kong (where I incidentally live) when I came across a brand called Daily Dolly that I just absolutely fell in love with. What was so special about this brand?
The fact that Daily Dolly sells probably the cleverest and most creative designer label knock offs. I just laughed and laughed when I saw some of the clever creations and then marveled in amusement at the line up of Chanels, Birkins and Ferragamo lookalikes that were so obviously fake but ‘re-interpreted’ in such a fashionable way that you just had to love them.
My first thought was “aren’t these counterfeit items?” as the line between fake and real is very narrow these days especially when one lives in Hong Kong. However they are getting away with it baffles me – probably all in the name of re-engineered creativity but I liked what I saw and shall be checking out their shop called Pink Martini which also carries other brands like Duras (see bolero and tee shirt above) this week in Causeway Bay at the trendy Yiu Wa Street just behind Times Square.
