Drop In To London!
Did a hole open up on Orchard Road threatening to drop passers-by into Westminster Abbey? No, that’s one of ten 3D floor art installations in front of ION Orchard recently, created by street artists Joe & Max for the Great Britain 3D” campaign by VisitBritain, the national tourist board for the UK.
This was the first destination for the travelling exhibition organised to market the UK as travel destination. At the same time, they are reminding us that there’s plenty of reasons to potter to London next year, too.
“Everyone is invited to join in on the festivities, be it the Queen‟s Diamond Jubilee, the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Cultural Olympiad, or any of the thousands of festivals and celebrations taking place all over Britain,” says VisitBritain Global Head for Market Planning and Operations, Garry White.
In 2012, Britain is expecting over a million people to line up the banks of the Thames to watch the pageantry and festivities for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee (60 years on the throne!), and over 5 million visitors to London for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
