Elegant Purse-Friendly Eats
Summer Afternoon Tea. If you haven’t already done so, you really NEED to check out the weekend afternoon tea at Chihuly Lounge at the Ritz Carlton Millenia Singapore. The spread is incredible and Executive Pastry Chef Terence Pang is a real master at churning out gorgeous pastries and desserts. (I think he’s one of the most creative culinary talents around but he often falls under the media’s radar – not mine though!) He often rolls out themed tea spreads and from June 4 to August 28, it’s Summer. And with the GSS going on now, it’s timely to hit the mall in the morning with the girls, shop til late in the afternoon and end with tea there. For $46++, you get a big and high end spread of hot and cold dishes crab meat salad with avocado in beetroot focaccia, smoked duck with pickled Spanish onions in carrot buns, baked goose liver and dried fruits in flaky pastries, risotto arancini with crab meat, Goose Liver Parfait with Port Wine Jelly, Passion Fruit Meringue Tarts, macaroons, Tomato Raspberry Charlotte nad live stations of crepes with berries and home made ice cream, etc. It’s served with coffee and over 30 varieties of Ronnefeldt tea. ($23++ for kids) Tel: 6434 5288 or email rc.sinrz.restaurantreservations@ritzcarlton.com
Find Finnish. Fancy Finnish feasting? (Don’t mind my fricative alliteration.) Old faithful Gordon Grill at the Goodwood Park Hotel (a touch of guttural alliteration now from PracCrit 101) is rolling out a New Finnish Cuisine promo with a guest chef Kim Palhus from 4-11 June. For the curious, there’s a lovely 6-course dinner degustation ($98++) featuring Juniper marinated reindeer tenderloin with wild mushroom salad, buckwheat brioche with salmon trout roe, beetroot-fresh cheese mousse, Reindeer roast with liquorice sauce (yums! Just don’t tell Santa you ate Rudolph!), leaf celery sorbet, Finnish cheeses (made from reindeer milk??) and a dessert of Lapland cottage cheese, milk choc mousse (no, not moose) and blueberry souffle. A four course lunch menu is served too at $58++ and of course an a la carte menu. Tel: 6730 1744
