Free Admission & Busker Fest At Sentosa

Unless you’re swotting for the PSLE like I am, 10 September, Saturday,  is the penultimate day of the holidays for overworked little Singapore school goers, so  put aside the grindstone, smoothen down your momzilla scales and give the kids a break. Where to go? Shuffle over to Sentosa, because it’s Sentosa Day’. Lots of good things going on there….

First of all, they have waived the entrance fee to the island via the Sentosa Boardwalk and Sentosa Express from 7am to 11.59pm. Secondly, they are holding their first-ever large-scale charity initiative called Sentosa Gives. How does that work? Sentosa is holding the Sentosa Buskers Festival that day featuring 12 international buskers. Watch them perform, enjoy yourselves and donate generously. All proceeds will go to the Community Chest and the 70 charities under its care. Even if the kids are studying then, you can tell yourself that it’s a good opportunity to teach them to be charitable. See? Learning opportunities abound.

Hmm….so it should really be called ‘Sentosa’s Visitors Give’ though admittedly it’s not so catchy a name….

Anyway, here are the details. Go. The kids will love it.

Free admission if you travel in by: Sentosa Boardwalk (exit near Serenity, VivoCity, Level 1) or Sentosa Express (board at VivoCity, Level 3)
(Free island admission is not applicable to drive-ins by passenger cars, taxis and other vehicles)
Tel: 1800-SENTOSA (736-8672)

Okay, this is not exactly the breakaway the section, ie lux and fantabulous travel, but I didn’t want to write over the absolutely wonderful feature our guest writer S Pearl wrote about the last train out from the Tanjong Pagar Railway Station. If you haven’t read it yet, please do. It’s one of the most beautiful pieces we have run on SimplyFab.
