Guardian Offers FREE Lipid Profile Screening
How healthy is your heart? In my 40s I have been much more diligent about going for annual health check ups and if you have not or know someone who refuses to then here is a freebie that you might like to consider that only requires you to visit one of the ten Guardian outlets listed below.
On Friday 1 July, Guardian Health & Beauty is launching an initiative to promote a healthy heart leading up to World Heart Day on 29 September 2011. So find out the condition of yours by stepping into any Guardian outlet in Singapore to assess your risk of heart disease with a FREE Lipid Profile Screening (usually priced at S$15 per screening). Ocean Health is the sponsor of 1,000 Lipid Profile Screening Kits.
The free Lipid Profile Screening is exclusive to Guardian Health and Beauty stores and will be made available to the public at TEN selected Guardian outlets namely:
- Ang Mo Kio Blk 704 – #01-2559
- Causeway Point – #B1 – 28/29/30
- Compass Point – # B1-35/37

How It All Works
- Members of the public can approach ANY Guardian outlet from 1st July to 19th July 2011 to have a preliminary assessment of their heart health. The assessment is based on established clinical guidelines and evaluates risk factors such as smoking and family history of heart diseases.
- Only persons with moderate or high risk of cardiovascular diseases will receive an appointment for a FREE Lipid Profile Screening at the TEN selected Guardian outlets. They are required to fast (no water or food) 10 hours prior to their Lipid Profile Screening appointment.
- Once the results of the lipid profile screening is ready, the individual will be contacted and invited to come in for a complimentary consultation by a Guardian Pharmacist who will assist in interpreting their results.
- Individuals who are deemed to be of moderate or high risk of cardiovascular disease will be given advice by the Guardian Pharmacist on preventive measures to help them achieve optimal heart health. They will also be offered a complimentary consultation with an appointed cardiologist, Dr. Dinesh Nair from DN Heart Specialist, Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre, for a more in-depth review.
Apparently up to 15 people in Singapore die daily from cardiovascular disease and in 2009, it accounted for nearly 31.6% of all deaths in Singapore which really means that one out of three people in Singapore actually die from it. Is that scary? Well there are preventive measures and if you want to understand what that means for you or someone that you care about, the perfect opportunity arrives via the informative and interactive Cardiovascular Health orum hosted by speakers – renowned cardiologist Dr. Dinesh Nair from DN Heart Specialist, Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre and Guardian Patient Care Pharmacist, Ms Grace Chew on 23 April from 2pm to 6pm at DBS Auditorium, Level 3 DBS Building Tower 1, 6 Shenton Way. At only S$10 (for PAssion ezlink card members) and S$12 (for Non PAssion ezlink card members), you also walk home with a goodie bag each.
