Hair Oil With A Royal Twist
Q: What do you get when you get an Ottoman Princess to redesign a best selling beautifying hair oil?
A: You get a bottle of Kerastase’s Elixir Ultime in limited edition with only 2500 pieces world wide.
Kerastase teamed up with young and playful Parisienne Designer, also Ottoman Princess, Yaz Bukey to showcase the jewellery designer’s distinct brand of playful flair and fantasy infused Moucharabieh influences. Who is HRH Yaz Bukey? She is the great granddaughter of the King of Egypt. Yaz sought inspiration from the Mashrabiya, a type of oriel window commonly found in Gothic architecture, enclosed with carved wood latticework – an element of traditional Arabic architecture used since the Middle Ages. Mashrabiya elegant décor carvings embrace and surround the bottle like a black flecked fabric, emphasising the item’s lightness. The result is an iconic product that resembles a piece of gold jewellery that emanates exotic charms from the Middle East and the Ottoman Empire. She imagined the bottle as a a jewellery piece by itself in massive gold that made the product unique and evoked its main features. “It was interesting to imagine Elixir Ultime behind the walls of an Ottoman palace, as part of the Turkish bath ritual that belongs to my culture”.
The oil is the ultimate ‘must-have’ multi-purpose treatment booster used by celebrities worldwide for all hair types. Enriched with a complex of precious oils, the versatile item contains Oléo-Complexe Technology which combines four precious oils: Argan Oil, one of the rarest in the world – praised for its reparative and regenerative properties; Maize Oil – rich in vitamins A, E and Omega 6 to provide hair with shine, suppleness and protection; Pracaxi Oil which is a powerful cocktail of emollient and active anti-oxidant ingredients; and finally, Camellia Oil which helps to smooth hair fibre thanks to Vitamin F and fatty acids.
And what really does Princess Yaz do? She is the owner of innovative French brand Yazbukey, a brand that designs fun and creative jewellery and accessories. The brand was created at the turn of the millennium. She previously interned with fashion powerhouses such as Maison Martin Margiela, Jeremy Scott and has worked with the late Alexander McQueen. Yaz has built her world around the importance of looking good. Thus, she creates fashionable intricate accessories and has collaborated with luxury brands such as Chanel and Ladurée.
Definitely worth a try, the Kérastase Elixir Ultime Limited Edition will retail at S$62 and will be available from February 2012 in all Kérastase consultant salons in Singapore and worldwide.
