Hong Kong’s Must-Do Eats – Part 1
Fiery Libations on Lan Kwai Fong
If you’re up for some excitement, then release your inner pyromaniac at Likuid, a naughty new nightclub in Lan Kwai Fong, Hong Kong’s party zone near Central. For here, you’ll find Hong Kong’s largest flaming cocktail menu, offering nine fiery drinks with suitably exciting names like Chariots of Fire, Eruption, Fire on Likuid, Flaming Doctor Pepper, Flaming Lamborghini, Flaming Waterfall, Siwoncke, Three Burns and Volcano. This is accompanied by a fire juggling and flaring show on Friday and Saturday nights.
It is choreographed by bar manager Dilip Thapa who says with almost Shakesperean poetry: “The bar is a stage and all of us behind it are actors and performers. Everything we do is to entertain our customers and fuel the club with energy.”
Likuid is also official venue for the legendary global dance music movement Ministry of Sound with exclusive rights to stage Ministry of Sound DJs, parties and VIP events. It also hosts monthly ‘Lik Me Luv Me’ party nights featuring different themes and stretching all night from 9.30pm-7am.

The Only Hong Kong Entry on World’s Best Restaurant List
Only one restaurant in Hong Kong has been listed on The S. Pellegrino “World’s 50 Best Restaurants” Awards organised by Restaurant Magazine in the UK, this year. The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong’s Amber restaurant sits on the 37th spot – a pretty big achievement considering it is also the only restaurant in Hong Kong to have appeared on this list since 2005.
The 60-seater served mod French cuisine, helmed by two-Michelin-star chef Richard Ekkebus. Originally from Holland, he has worked with some of the greatest chefs like Pierre Gagnaire, Alain Passard and Guy Savoy. Focusing on great ingredients and creative presentation, he gives his cuisine a “contemporary and light feel”. Just for a sneak peek, his signature dishes include Sea Urchin in a Lobster Jelly with Cauliflower, Caviar and Crispy Seaweed Waffle, Line-Caught Amadai with Orange and Fennel Confit, and “Mieral Bresse Pigeon Breast with Wild Cep Mushrooms.
