Jimmy Choo’s Not Allowed
Anyone up for a holiday with a difference? No skiing, no Michelin star feasting, no shopping for clothes….Is it worth it? Well, you tell me. But one thing’s for sure. Leave your heels at home!
PlanetWildlife.com, a provider of diverse wildlife and safari tours, will be setting off on an expedition into India’s largest cave network in Meghalaya (North East India) on 8 Dec. The 15-Day Meghalaya Caving Adventure starts when you touch down in Kolkata, where you take a domestic flight to Guwahati and on to Shillong, the capital city of Meghalaya – known as the ‘Scotland of the East’ for its mountainous terrain and cool climate. You spend a few days looking at rare birdlife (no, don’t snip the feathers for your dress!), flora and fauna of sacred forests and groves, then start your trek through the Shnong Rim of the Jaintia Hills District and into the network of 500 limestone caves spanning over 1,000 kilometres. Your jaunt ends in a visit to the ancient royal ruins of Nartiang, and Cherrapunjee – ‘the wettest place on earth’ and the location of the spectacular Nohkalikai Falls.
The Meghalaya Caving Adventure is priced at £1,369/US$2,252 all inclusive (not including international flights). Looks like you’ll need to do some training and build up your stamina before heading out. Byeee! Have a nice time!
