Kisses For Sale (Really!!) At The W In HK
How does a girl’s night out with champagne, chocolates, diamonds, men in underwear, topless waiters and a KISSING BOOTH sound? Yeah, you did a double take on the Kissing Booth? So did I.
If you have a regular Frauline Friday, you might want to move your next all-gals to a Wednesday (specifically 23 March) and check yourself into a two hour rather indulgent party at the W Hotel in Kowloon for an event that the organisers call the “What Women Want” party, now in its 3rd year running at the W’s Living Room.
Not 100% convinced that I want that 'manly' nest of chest hair!
Question: So really, what is it that women want?
Answer: A literal take on ‘Love’, ‘Lusts’ and Cocktails (?)

For HK$398 in advance or HK$450 at the door, there are canapés, chocolates, cocktails, house wines and soft drinks on the tap. HK$3,000 gets you a VIP table and 6 entry tickets, a complimentary bottle of champagne and personal service by waiters with a ‘seductive look’. (Rolling in laughter – we took that last bit from the press release) Go figure what ‘seductive look’ means?
If the ‘seductive-look’ waiters don’t grab you and the volatile mix of cocktails and candy do not get you there fast enough then maybe some hunky rugby players will. The organisers have roped in the Rugby 7s players (not sure which team – sorry ladies) here in HK to donate HK$50 for a smooch and HK$100 for a ‘Hollywood style’ kiss. (Thanks! someone please sign me up for one of those. Err do I get to choose the donor?)
The activity is called ‘Kiss-for-a-Cause’ and proceeds go to Vision First, a charity that promotes the welfare of asylum-seekers and refugees, irrespective of religion, race and nationality by advocating and providing shelter and access to medical, counselling and educational services. See: http://visionfirstnow.org/. The charity has opened a new shelter in Hong Kong and donations from the event will be directed specifically to the renovation and fit out of the Women’s shelter.
Donating gyrating hips … as well as locking lips, the Seven’s team players, sponsored by G.O.D.(Goods of Desire, HK’s funky furniture and lifestyle store) after being kissed by 150 lusty ladies (assuming all are takers) will have to strut their stuff along the W walkway in a cheeky fashion show that the organisers say ‘will test your restraint’.
‘Quick, show me the diamonds!’ you say. They are in the champagne flutes. A clever play on copy, the champers for the evening have been sponsored by Jewellers, Windiam Diamonds.
There are 150 premium goodie bags, Bliss spa mini massages and an Absolut cocktail bar to raid but best of all, is the free shuttle bus service if you coming to the event from Central that leaves at 7:30pm and 7:45pm respectively. That will have you arriving on time for one night of lusty laughs!
