Liz Taylor’s Treasures Go Under Hammer
If you are holidaying in New York this year end, do make sure you stop by the Rockefeller Centre for a once-in-a lifetime exhibition of the late Liz Taylor’s most cherished possessions. The entire gallery space at the Rockefeller Centre will be set aside from 3 to 16 December for Christie’s public exhibition followed by a four day sale of Liz Taylor’s personal jewelry to haute couture, fashion and accessories and even her impressionist and modern art collection all of which give a fascinating personal look into her extraordinary life and legacy. A portion of the money generated by exhibition admissions, events and publications related to the sales will be donated to The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation (ETAF). Founded in 1991, ETAF provides funding to AIDS service organizations throughout the world to assist those living with HIV and AIDS.
If you can’t make New York, don’t fret as the exhibition travels from September 2011 including stops in Moscow, London, Los Angeles, Dubai, Geneva, Paris, and Hong Kong. Details up soon for the Hong Kong dates.
In case you are wondering what will be on show, her jewelry includes her famous white diamonds and custom-designed jewels. In terms of haute couture, fashion and accessories expect to look at some of the stylish and most glamourous outfits, handbags and shoes that she wore when she graced the red carpets of Holloywood, to the ski slopes of Gstaad to the sandy beaches of Puerto Vallarta. A big fan of fine furniture and art, Liz Taylor shared her love of fine paintings with her father who was art dealer Francis Taylor. She became a personal collector which included an assembly of late 19th century and early 20th century French and British paintings and drawings, including a significant group of works inherited from her father.
