Make A Difference In Someone’s Life

We’re all so thankful that we live the good life, go holidaying when we want to, buy some bling when the mood hits. But while we’re all looking forward to living up the good life this holiday season, there are loads of people around, right here at home and around the world, who are struggling to live decently and with dignity. All of us SimplyFab people already know that, so there’s really no need to say more. How can we help to make someone’s life a little better?

World Vision Singapore’s Top Five gift ideas for this Christmas make a huge difference in the lives of children in less developed countries. Tiny Cambodian kids need shoes (S$8), less privileged children in China need jackets ($13) to pull through harsh winters, children in Zambia need blankets ($23), while broods in Philippines need food ($15 for a food pack for 1 month) and families in Thailand would have a livelihood starting out with five ducks ($75). • Do pop in also at the Tree of Life roadshow at Marina Square, NEX and Jurong Point this December to find out more about these life-changing gifts and Child Sponsorship.
Nex Mall, Level B1, now until 18 Dec
Jurong Point, Level 1, now until 22 Dec
    Marina Square, Level 2, 8 – 22 Dec

Hotel Fort Canning, on the other hand has come up with a cute reusable Ladybird Shopper Bags to help raise funds for Club Rainbow. Why ladybugs though? They’ve taken their inspiration from the bugs, birds, plants and squirrels that also call Fort Canning Park, where the hotel is located, home. Pick up one of these bags at only $10 from the hotel’s Front Desk, The Glass House restaurant, Gattopardo and The Legends Fort Canning Park. All funds raised will go to Club Rainbow to help more than 500 children who suffer from major chronic and potentially life-threatening illnesses.

Finally, the Singapore Boys’ Brigade Share-A-Gift 2011 takes place from now until 21 December. Buy food and new essential household items (eg. canned food, rice, cooking oil, children and adult diapers) and donate them to needy families in Singapore via this charitable effort. Beneficiaries are 5,000 plus households under public assistance schemes bad 190 voluntary welfare organizations. You can drop off the donations at selected NTUC FairPrice supermarkets or contribute online at www.fairprice.com.sg
