Retro Functions Still Rock!!
The past is back with a blast! If you had kept your shoulder-padded blouses, ‘beggar-look’ tunics and shimmer gold lame harem pants a la ‘Solid Gold’ (starring Marilyn McCoo!), it’s time to dust them down and step into them again and relive your teens! Here’s a number of acts that are milking the 70s and 80s phenomenon – and you have to admit those were two decade of fantastic music! (After all, why would the current bunch of youngsters hanker for ‘retro’ music if their current beats were so good?)
On 20 November for one night only, Elton John plays at the Indoor Stadium with his Greatest Hits Tour. He’ll be performing with his long time band, together with four back up singers. Look forward to his classics Saturday Night’s Alright (for Fighting), Rocketman, Levon and Your Song and loads more. His last concert here three years ago saw a three hour extravaganza, so if that’s anything to go by, it’s bound to be a pretty hot night. Don’t miss ABBA MANIA, the authentic tribute concert to the world’s most successful band ABBA. No, Agnetha, Bjorn, Benny and Anna Frida aren’t back to boogie but this gig reproduces their last ‘live’ stage concert, complete with vibrant ‘70s-era costumes and psychedelically extravagant lighting! If you fancy reliving those days of your younger and misguided youth, slap on the heavy Paula Abdul style make up, pouf up the hair and head to Fort Canning Park on 15 October for Funktion, a party that brings back the 80s and 90s.
