Spanish Fair At The Jockey Club
Do you love food fairs? In Singapore, a recent one earlier this month was swarming with jade-bangled aunties shuffling around sampling free food (enough sampling makes a meal!), yelling to their friends about which stand offers the best freebies, and hauling home bagloads of free samples of products. I hope it’s a more elegant situation over in Hong Kong, when the Spanish Trade Commission there serves up the Spanish Foods & Wines Festival on 22 September.
This happens at the Hong Kong Jockey Club, open to the public from 6pm – 9pm. Lots of Spanish yummies to be had, with 26 Spanish food suppliers showcasing their fare. Highlights include sipping on bubbly 24K gold cava infused with gold flakes; traditional fruity Spanish drink Sangria, Spanish hams, cheeses, goose liver, duck, fish roe, seafood, or crusty fresh bread dipped in extra virgin olive oil. Also on the cards is shopping for Spanish foods at a discount.
Spanish chefs from well known Hong Kong restaurants will be there to serve up sumptuous tapas. They include Alex Fargas from FoFo, Ivan Abril from Mesa 15, José Mascaros from Pacific Gourmet, Francisco Pazos from Viva Ana, Hector Costa from Macau’s Pousada de Sao Tiago, and Sandy Shek, who trained in Spain.
Tickets are at HK$80 per entry, which comes with a free tasting of 12 different Spanish foods and wines, $80 cash coupons and a 20% shopping discount coupon.
Tickets are available in advance from the Spanish Trade Commission office, or at the venue on the day of the event.
