Still Delicious At 30
When you hit the big 3-0, you either celebrate it head on with a bash, or pretend it never happened. Looks like the InterContinental Grand Stanford Hong Kong is throwing itself at this milestone with youthful vigour! Throughout September, it’s doling all sorts of goodies and being a little nostalgic about it too.
At The Mistral, Chef Eugenio Iraci has done his research and revived the signature dishes from its first à la carte menu and giving a taste of the early days. No molecular madness here, its serving up old fashioned faves like oven-baked French oysters with spinach, shallots and Parmesan velloute; baked black figs with Lardo di Colonnata, goat cheese and Acacia honey; veal tenderloin with tuna and caper sauce, prime cut of charcoal grilled Australian beef tenderloin with Béarnaise sauce, snail ragout and baked potato skin and the restaurant’s original desserts in a dessert trolley.

Old fashioned tipples are the thing at Tiffany’s New York Bar, which is tipping a hat to cocktails guests loved most in the last few decades. For HK$30 each, there’s Fuzzy Navel and Smirnoff Caipiroska to remember the shoulder-padded parties of the 80s; Sea Breeze and Moscow Mule from the 90s, and Classic Mojito and Classic Martini from the turn of the 21st century. Nice little discounts are served up at Michelin-starred Hoi King Heen all September. A range of speciality dim are offered at HK$30 each when two diners order set lunch, while selected dishes go at the same price when at least four diners order the set dinner. And what’s a birthday without cake? Marking this anniversary, Executive Pastry Chef Kevin Chiu has created a special edition anniversary cake – Champagne and rose mousse cake with golden crumbles.
