Toilet Couture

Reduce, Reuse and Recycle .. still this one takes the cake or should I say steals the (toilet) seat .. oh well, lets hope all the ‘fabric’ used in this dress were fresh from the pack.

Have you heard of Toiletta? You will have, after this one. Toiletta at www.toiletta.com hails from Ottawa, Canada and they manufacture disposable toilet seat covers. Their target audience are women from 20-45 who care about their personal hygiene in public bathrooms. The seat covers are purse sized and in travel packs with 5 toilet seat covers, flushable and made from large sheets of 3ply toilet paper. Each seat cover is 20% larger and 42% thicker than other brands. A percentage of the proceeds are donated to social causes, pink for breast cancer and blue for child poverty. Each travel pack retails for $2.49 – $3.49 USD and they are currently sold in Canada, North America, UK and Europe.

The ultra creative team there decided to engage fashion designer Laura Dreger to show off her talents by making a couture paper dress from their seat covers.

The dress took over 100 hours to make and required more than 520 seat covers. The model, Lindsay Goff is an up and coming fashion model who is competing for Miss Canada 2011 and the face of Lady Venom Cosmetics.
