Want New Appliances? Rope In the Kids…..
If you have a budding artist among your brood, sign him up for Electrolux’s ‘Dreaming of A Greener Singapore’ art competition and keep your fingers crossed. It’s a nice way of getting kiddie thinking green and get your hands on new kitchen appliances. Yes, child labour, perhaps, but think about it – Junior learns about the environment, and you get a new kitchen! So this is how it works…
The nice people at Electrolux are inviting Singapore’s under 12’s to sketch and revamp on paper the exterior of a EWF10751 washing machine – part of Electrolux’s green range. The theme is ‘a greener Singapore’. The top prize is a home ‘green kit out’ comprising an Electrolux refrigerator, front load washer and dryer, an Electrolux Ultrasilencer green vacuum cleaner and a S$200 shopping gift voucher. The second prize - front load washer and dryer, the Electrolux Ultrasilencer green vacuum cleaner plus a S$150 gift voucher.
All entries must be 2-D designs on a piece of A3 paper and include the child’s name, age and their parents contact details, plus a caption of no more than 50 words explaining the inspiration behind the design. They should be posted to ‘Turning Our Little Red Dot Green, Electrolux SEA c/o 88a Club Street, Singapore 069456 by Friday, 6 August 2011. Selection of the winners will be based on a combination of a public vote on the Electrolux Little White Book fanpage (http://www.facebook.com/thelittlewhitebook) and Electrolux design judges.
This ties in with an exhibition they are holding in September on ‘Vacs from the Sea’. It showcases three out of the five unique vacuum cleaners designed by incorporating fragments of bottles, food containers, drinks cans, beach toys etc collected from the shores of the Pacific and Indian Oceans and the North, Mediterranean and the Baltic Seas. This highlights the issue of marine debris and its impact on marine life and each vac represents one of the seas or oceans from which the plastics originated.
