Watsons Goes Pink!

Watsons goes pink this October too in more ways than one. The store is adopting the Breast Cancer Foundation (BCF) as their official charity for the year and aims to raise S$100,000 in Singapore towards research by selling BCF pink ribbons available at S$5 each, giving away BCF Breast Books, collecting donations via the BCF Donation Boxes in-store and organising the Watsons Pink Ribbon Walk on 1 October and  finally by launching a pink shelves program in-store. Yes green gives way to pink in over 40 stores in Singapore from today to 16 November along with four partners Brands, Johnson & Johnson, L.D Watson and Procter & Gamble. Ten Singapore cents from the sale of selected products within these brands will go towards the fund raising effort.

The Watsons Pink Ribbon Evening Walk starts up and ends at the Waterfront Promenade at Marina Bay and the 3.8km evening walk will bring participants to key attractions around Marina Bay including the Art Science Museum, the Floating Platform, Merlion Park, and The Promontory.  Before the walk, there will be a Carnival at Marina Bay from 6pm.

According to the Singapore Cancer Registry Interim Report 2005-2009, breast cancer remains the number one cancer killer for women in Singapore. On average, approximately 1,492 women are diagnosed with the disease annually, with at least 354 lives claimed every year.
