WINS! Stunt Racing For Little Boys
Welcome to our first ever toy review! And why not? Lots of us are parents of little boys, and with the Christmas season coming round the corner, we have given Mattel Inc.’s brand new ‘Wall Tracks from Hot Wheels’ our stamp of fabuliciousness!
Recently launched, Wall Tracks by Hot Wheels is the new addition to the Hot Wheels stable of small boys’ toys. A wall-mounted toy, it let’s speed-happy kids race their toy cars on the wall amd on to the ground, plus do stunts like navigate bends, accelerate, spin and go 360-degrees on the wall. You begin with the starter set and build up from there. And the good news is that it’s compatible with selected Hot Wheels tracks sets.
As with all proper reviews, SimplyFab had engaged the services of three experts – Dylan, aged 4, Mark, 8 and Nick, 10 – to test drive the Hot Wheels Starter Set ($69.90) and give us their honest feedback. The outcome? Wall Tracks passed with flying colours.
We quote from their review which they wrote with the help of Pauline Gan, two of the boys’ mom: “At first, Nick thought that he might be too old to really enjoy the toy. However, he still found it fun to play with as the tracks were interesting to build and the way the cars sped down the tracks and performed stunts was quite cool. Dylan is a great fan of cars and Hot Wheels and so was most delighted and thrilled with it. This toy is highly recommended.”
While the instructions advise grown ups to mount the tracks, these spunky kids tried it themselves. “Nick and Mark were able to assemble the tracks on their own although they did find it a little tricky! The parts that they found a little difficult were: (1) using the guide provided to mount the tracks (2) working with the mounting tapes. It took about 20 minutes to mount the tracks,” they wrote.
Mum Pauline noted that the starter set comes with only one car, so have more vehicles on hand if there’s a crowd. And if you don’t want to risk your kids manhandling the mounting, just follow instructions and install it yourself.
What’s in it for long-suffering moms? It’s neat, clean and tidy, mounted using 3M Command Strips which do not damage or mark walls. (So thoughtful of the designers.) And since it’s wall mounted, it keeps the clutter off your floors, plus it’s easily stored – ie. it’s left where its hung! (Wall Tracks Track Sets are available at all major department and toy specialty stores in Singapore from mid-December.)
