The Best Guy Spa in Hong Kong

If your man thinks spas are only for girls and ‘karaoke heroes’ on afternoon trysts with their mistresses bring them to GENTLEMEN’S TONIC, a men’s spa at The Landmark in Hong Kong.

Recently voted Men’s Spa of the Year 2011, this place is assuredly masculine, decked out in wood, leather and marble. And while they boast ‘bespoke services’, there’s no hanky-panky ‘extra services’ of any inclination going on behind closed doors.

Here’s where your guy can have a much-needed facial, giving his face a desperate collagen boost and moisture surge, without denting even a notch of his manliness!

A case in point is The Hemingway (HK$1800), one of their most popular treatments – a 120-minute package which includes an aromatherapy facial and massage and Bloody Mary tossed in, recommended after a night of heavy drinking and ‘bull fighting’.

The Rubio ($2,100) is a 165-minute session for the ‘Ultimate Playboy’ – or at least he might like to imagine himself as such – featuring a haircut and finish, wet shave, express facial, hand treatment and Swedish massage. Or The Edison sounds like an essential that every 21st century man should have – a quick 90-minute do of Indian head massage, revitalising eye treatment and an express facial.

There’s also a range of a la carte treatments like foot treatments, back scrubs and exfoliation, facials, and even waxing (ouch!). At the barber’s, there’s hair and beard design, head shave (clipper or razor?), and something really cute – Father & Son Haircut and Finish (HK$800) where men get a bloody mary, while son get to watch cartoons.

GENTLEMEN’S TONIC carries its own products range Babassu & Bergamot, which consists of naturally based plant-derived materials from sustained and renewable resources that have been formulated for men’s skin and hair. The line has taken three years of development by one of the UK’s leading product formulators and has been developed, formulated and produced entirely in the UK.

GENTLEMEN’S TONIC originated in London in 2004, and now has four London establishments, Mayfair, Selfridges, Park Lane and Gieves & Hawkes.  The Hong Kong spa was opened just earlier this year. Not bad for a fledgling.
